オリックスのタフィー・ローズ外野手（３９）が、外国人史上初、球界１４人目となる４００号本塁打を放った。ロッテ１９回戦（千葉）の９回最終打席、薮田からバックスクリーンへ飛び込む４０号ソロで、本塁打王争いでも楽天山崎武に並んだ。ローズの本塁打ペースは王（巨人）に次ぐ史上２位。４０本塁打６度も単独２位。今季外国人史上初の１５００安打、１０００打点も達成しており、「史上最強の外国人」を印象付ける新たな勲章となった。
