神宮で連夜のサヨナラ勝ちに、ヤクルト古田兼任監督の笑いが止まらない。８回に２点差を追いつき、９回１死満塁で田中浩が決めた。那須野から中前に運び「いつもと同じ１打席のつもりで打った」という平常心がプロ初のサヨナラ打を生んだ。同監督は「意外とやりますね。野球がうまいタイプじゃないけど一生懸命やる。最後も低めのボールに食らいついてたね」。不器用さを知るがゆえの褒め言葉で、存在感を見せた３年目の成長を喜んだ。
