横浜工藤は超ご機嫌だった。チームの勝利を見届けると、ニコニコ顔に鼻歌交じりで会見場に現れた。６回を散発３安打無失点。故障者が続出し、４連敗中だったチームを救った。「球のキレ？ 分からないなあ。腕は振れていたと思うけど」。奪った三振は９。左手中指にできたマメのため６回で降板。惜しくも自身が持つ２けた奪三振最年長記録の更新は逃したが、ベテランの味がさえ渡った通算２２０勝目だった。
