古田ヤクルトは２１安打１５得点と打線が爆発し、山口シリーズを７月１１日以来の連勝で飾った。試合後、下関のファンから声援を受けてバスに乗り込む古田兼任監督の表情は緩みっぱなしだった。「相手が三浦だったので、苦しい戦いになると思った。打線が頑張ってくれている」。成績不振から自らの去就騒動が起きているが、そんな話題を吹き飛ばす勝ち方だった。
