「最強の１番打者」が首位奪回に導いた。巨人高橋由伸外野手（３２）が２６日の横浜戦（東京ドーム）の１回、２戦連続となる今季９本目の先頭打者弾を放った。シーズン９本は７２年福本（阪急）らを抜いてプロ野球記録。同点とされた直後の６回裏には阿部、ホリンズの連続適時打で２点勝ち越した。巨人は６月２３日以来となる２連勝で、首位の座を奪い返した。中日は阪神に痛恨の逆転負けを喫し首位陥落した。
