ハマの不惑左腕が快挙を成し遂げた。横浜工藤公康投手（４４）が２４日の巨人１２回戦（東京ドーム）で６回２失点と好投。古巣から初勝利を挙げ、プロ野球史上６人目の全１２球団勝利を達成した。工藤は消滅した近鉄からも勝っており「現１２球団＋近鉄」は初めてだ。３位横浜が２位巨人を倒し、首位中日も敗れたため、３強が１・５ゲーム差に大接近。ペナントレースは後半戦開幕初日から、戦国セ・リーグの様相を呈してきた。
