４時間５０分の熱戦も引き分けに終わり、ロッテは２位に転落した。バレンタイン監督は「全力を尽くして負けなかった」と、９回から３イニング連続で襲ったサヨナラのピンチを切り抜けたことを評価した。信頼の厚い薮田、小林雅のリリーフ陣が崩れて９回に同点に追い付かれたが、そこから高木－小宮山とベテランをつぎ込む総力戦で連敗を阻止した。小宮山は「パ・リーグがしのぎを削って中身の濃い試合をしているのは喜ばしいこと。また明日から頑張ります」とプラス思考で話した。
