西武西口が４９日ぶりの勝利で、チームの３連勝と交流戦の最下位脱出を引き寄せた。自身５連敗中だったが、打線の援護も受けながら８回２失点。新井、前田智の４、５番を４打数無安打に抑え、４月２８日のロッテ戦以来となる６勝目を挙げた。チームとともに長いトンネルを脱し「負けられないという気持ちだった。いつ勝ったか覚えてないくらい長い道のりだった」と大きく息を吐き出した。
