西武カブレラが４試合連続となる１０号２ランを放ち、０１年の来日以来７年連続で２ケタ本塁打をクリアした。０－０の３回２死三塁で、広島大竹の初球シュートをとらえた打球は左翼席中段にライナーで突き刺さった。「調子がいいのでファウルにならずにうまく本塁打が打てたよ」。チームは４連敗中だが、続くＧ佐藤も右中間への１４号ソロを放ち、試合の主導権を２発で握った。
