日本ハム田中幸が、通算２０００本安打についに王手をかけた。６回、泥臭い当たりが、中前へ抜けた。１９９９安打目は重く鈍い音を響かせた。直球に詰まりながらも、執念で二遊間を破った。８回の第４打席では、記録達成を期待するファンのスタンディングオベーションの中で登場したが、二ゴロ。ゴール到達はお預けになったが、着実に１歩前進する２試合連続安打だ。「今日中にもう１本打とうと思ったけれど」と苦笑いだったが、前夜の４号ソロに続く価値ある１本を刻んだ。
