つかんだチャンスは逃さない。巨人福田が、３度目の先発で２勝目をマークした。１回裏１死から走者を出すも、鈴木尚を併殺に打ち取った。この日の投球を象徴するシーンだった。７回まで毎回走者を出した。うち４度は先頭。ピンチは相次ぐも４度の併殺で逃れた。７回９安打無失点で先発の役目を十分に果たした。福田は「空振りよりゴロのつもりで、力まず投げた」と笑顔で語った。
