関西は、５年ぶりの４強進出を逃がした。先発の川辺郁也投手（３年）が初回に捕まり３失点。５回にも４点を追加された。被安打９、８失点で６回途中に降板した。打線は９回に６番荒木直人内野手（２年）が右前に適時打を放つが、１点を返すのが精一杯だった。江浦滋泰監督（３７）は「初回に奇襲で先制されて、ペースを握れなかった」と振り返った。
