宇部商（山口）がサヨナラアーチで２回戦進出を決めた。同点で迎えた９回裏、先頭の林裕行（２年）の打球は左翼ポールを直撃。山口県勢１００勝目のメモリアル勝利を、甲子園初采配となった中富力監督（４１）にプレゼントした。「感無量です。初めての甲子園で初勝利は出来すぎです」と中富監督は劇的な初勝利に感激いっぱいだった。
