日本文理（新潟）は「怪物倒し」を狙ったが、５暴投などで自滅した。大井道夫監督（６５）は「左腕（石田）がくると思ったが、いきなり中田が先発した。選手は『よーし』と気負い込んでしまった。気持ちが空回りして、ボール球に手を出した。１安打では勝てない」と苦笑した。エース栗山賢（３年）は中田を無安打に抑えながら、７失点で敗戦投手に。「制球力に磨きをかけ、夏に備えたい」と話した。
