オリックスのタフィー・ローズ外野手（３８）がオープン戦に初出場した。初めて背番号８のユニホームを身にまとい「４番ＤＨ」に座った。だが先発三浦のスライダーに見逃し三振するなど、４打席凡退した。「まだまだこれから。開幕に向けて調子を上げていくよ」。就労ビザを取得して１０日に再来日したばかりとあって、苦笑い。コリンズ監督も「５日ほどチームを離れてたわけだし、これから打席数を増やしていけばいいだけのことだ」と寛容だった。
