阪神能見がベストオーダーが並ぶ強力ソフトバンク打線に好投した。４回を多村のソロ本塁打の１点だけに抑えた。新球のチェンジアップでカウントを整え、内外角への投げ分けで的を絞らせなかった。「相手にはたぶん昨季までのボクのイメージがあったんじゃないですか。基本的に外角に変化球というね。きょうは内角もつけたし、低めに集まっていた」。昨年は交流戦のソフトバンク戦で５回１／３で４失点と打ち込まれた。昨オフに派遣されたハワイ・ウインターリーグでチェンジアップを習得。さらに左打者へも大胆に内角をつく攻めの投球を覚えた。イメージチェンジした成果を天敵封じで印象つけた。
