What is the latest on Ishii coming to the states? Seeing how he won a title with the Swallows this season, do you feel that would increase his chance of coming over? Also, any other talk of H. Matusi or others coming over for this coming season or next?

- What is the latest on Ishii coming to the states?

He's not. Yesterday (November 15th) he talked with Swallow officials and apparently said that he's decided to stay with the club. The official press release will be today.

While money talks won't begin until December between Ishii and Yakult, it is being reported that the previous offer of 7-oku yen plus incentives over three years still stands. If Ishii does sign this deal, it will mean that he won't be eligable for free agency next season due to the exteded contract. But we'll have to wait until December to find out if he signs for multiple years or just one.

Free agents who have expressed interest are listed here. Otherwise, there hasn't been any other talk of anybody wanting to be posted this off season. Of course, negotiations with "star" players haven't started yet for most of the teams, so there may be some out cries later on.
