Tomohiro "Johnny" Kuroki
I have a question regarding (former?) Chiba Lotte Marines pitcher Tomohiro Kuroki. Where did that nickname "Johnny" come from?

The nickname comes from the whiskey, Johnny Walker Black Label. In Japan, this particular brand of whiskey is often called "Johnny Kuro" ("kuro" = "black") - hence, Johnny Kuroki.
