Anyone remember Ryan Thompson?
Nutts4EP-san writes

Just curious if anyone here remembers an outfielder named Ryan Thompson who played in Japan in 1998? He's the newest member of my favorite MLB, the Florida Marlins, so I was wondering what NPB team he played for and how he did that season?

This would be MY team he was on

Ryan Thompson was one of the Americans who played for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks in 1998. He and Luis Lopez (former and future Carp at the time) made up the Hawks foreign position players. He played centerfield and batted somewhere around .280 with 7 or so home runs before tearing his ACL in May and was out for the rest of the season and never came back.

Thanks for the info on Ryan Thompson. His ACL must have healed nicely after 1998, because he has been doing quite well at AAA Calgary this season. Hope things go well for him with the Marlins.

Update on Ryan Thompson - in his debut for the Marlins he went 2 of 3 with 2 doubles and scored 3 runs.
