Olympic Rosters: China

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Olympic Rosters: China
China is easily the worst team in these Olympics. I wouldn't be surprised if they went 0-7, but they might be competitive in some games and I wouldn't be shocked if they won one or two. I hope I translated all of these correctly as I don't speak Chinese and relied on Google translate.

C: Wei Wang (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Wei_Wang) has been one of China's top performers in international events and signed with the Seattle Mariners last year but never played in the minors. His backup is apparently someone named Yang.

IF: Yufeng Zhang (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Yufeng_Zhang) is the team's captain. He has hit well in the 2005 World Cup and 2007 Arizona Fall League but was horrendous in the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Yu Bing Jia (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Yu_Bing_Jia) hasn't done much in international events and was signed by the Mariners at the same time as Wang. The other players are Fenglian Hou, Wei Sun, Fei Feng and someone I was unable to translate at all.

OF: Lingfeng Sun (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Lingfeng_Sun) did well in the 1998 and 2005 World Cups but not so good in the 2006 WBC and 2007 AFL. Chao Wang (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Chao_Wang) pitched in the minor leagues for two seasons before he became an outfielder. Hongbu Zhang (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Hongbo_Zhang) and Lei Li are the other two outfielders.

P: Tao Bu (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Tao_Bu) has not been particularly good in any international event he's played in. Li Zhang (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Li_Zhang) was good in the 2003 and 2005 World Cups but hasn't done much since. Before an arm injury, he was scouted by some MLB teams. Nan Wang (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Nan_Wang) has fared poorly in the international scene. Kai Liu (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Kai_Liu) was Rookie of the Year in China last year and was signed by the Yankees. He's new to the national team. The other hurlers are Jiangang Lu, Weiliang Li, Zheng Xu, Junyi Chen, someone named Sun, Kun Chen, Chenhao Li and Guojun Lai.
