His minor league numbers were solid but unspectacular (3.55 ERA, 8.6 K/9, 2.75 BB/9). Maybe NPB suits him, or maybe the rest of Central League haven't figured him out yet. But it's getting to the point in the season now that this appears to be real. It's impressive that he's getting this done in a hitter's paradise that is Hiroshima's ballpark (same went for Kuroda in years past).

What kinds of pitches does he throw, fastball and changeup?

If a pitcher has good location and keeps hitters off balance, he can win anywhere. The minors are a learning experience, player development. Looks like that development is coming to fruition for Marty Brown's upstarts at Hiroshima. Good for him!

All star, guarenteed. His numbers are off the charts right now. Now if they can find a couple more like him.
