Japanese pitchers coming to MLB

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Japanese pitchers coming to MLB
Unlike the previous couple of years little attention is being paid to Japanese pitchers. I heard a rumor that last years Baystars' closer could be coming to the U.S. to play for the Mets or Dodgers. I think his name is Soitah can anyone validate this rumor.
Thanks

It's Yokohama's Saitoh. And, yes, he has expressed interest in heading to the Majors. I think a couple of MLB teams have shown interest in him, but like you say, there hasn't been much hype about pitchers this year, so nothing has stuck.

Japanese pitchers don't seem to have anything to prove any more. It's accepted that they'll do fine in the Majors, so they just don't make the headlines any more.
