Where did the Oen Songs Originated From?
Does anyone know when the songs began playing in Japanese Baseball? Did it travel from high school baseball into the professional league?

I don't have the details, but the current trumpets and drums format was apparently started by the Hiroshima oendan in the 1970s. I'm not sure what the fans did before then and if there was an oendan; I've never seen footage of entire games from before the 1970s.
These days, oendan of Marines and Eagles are moving in a new direction. Less/no trumpets and drums, and more soccer supporter type chanting. It's an interesting move, and it's good to have variety within the league.
