Three 3-0 Shutouts in Central

Three 3-0 Shutouts in Central
All three Central League games last night ended in a 3-0 shutout.

Yokohama took down the mighty Giants at Tokyo Dome, Holt going the distance to become the second foreign player to shutout the Giants on his first facing of the team.

Chunichi blanked their hosts, the Swallows, at Jingu. Asakura went the distance to raise his winning percentage to .500 at 6 and 6.

Finally, the Tigers blanked Hiroshima at Koshien to start off the second half as they started off the season, on a winning note. Yabu pitched 7 innings, scattering 5 hits out among them. Kanazawa and Valdez each threw one inning of perfect relief each.

Another interesting bit of trivia is that all three games were under three hours. The times were 2:36, 2:34, and 2:50 respectively.

The last time that there were three shutouts thrown on a single day in the Central League was September 13, 1997. Yakult defeated the Giants 5-0, Chunichi blanked Hanshin 3-0, and Yokohama beat Hiroshima 6-0 on that day. I'd really like to know when was the last time there were three shutouts on the same day, in the same league, where all three scores were the same. What are the odds of that?
