That was a pretty depressing game, though. I felt like it was decided pretty much from the very beginning when the very first Okinawa batter, Iko, tripled and came in on a wild pitch. Seibo's Otsuka simply didn't have it today. Higashihama was really impressive in his 3-day showing. And I think it's cool that the Okinawa manager is so young (they said he was the ace pitcher when Okinawa Shogaku won it in '99? He must be the youngest guy to ever win Senbatsu as both a player and manager, heh).

I watched the first 15 minutes of the game or so and pretty much figured it was going to be a blowout, so I didn't see the rest, and just checked on the score from time to time during work. Probably just as well since I live in Saitama.

Higa Koya, 26, was the ace pitcher for the Oki-Sho team back in 1999 that beat PL Gakuen in 12 in the semis, and then won 7-2 against Mito-Sho. He was also named MVP of the tournament as well.

Just a note, another Higa, Higa Toshimitsu of the Carp, was the captain of the winning team that year.

I'd say the match was over around the second inning after those errors and wild pitch to make it 3-0. We were basically just talking in the chat room mid way through as the match wasn't even close.

Awesome, thanks for the update. Here is a nice article about it.
