Kazuo Uzuki?

Discussion in the High School forum
Kazuo Uzuki?
Hi,

New to the site. I'm looking for any information on a young Japanese high school pitcher named Kazuo Uzuki. A baseball card company has issued a card of this young fellow. However to date I have not been able to find any information on him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

He was born in Sarufutsu, Japan.

I've scanned the 648 players participating in the upcoming Senbatsu (Spring Koshien national invitational tournament), but had no luck.

What is the copyright date on the card?

Sarufutsu is not a prefecture. Does the card have the city and/or prefecture of the team he plays for?

Attempts to find him in the Japanese Wikipedia (which is usually really good for finding players) came up empty.

Is his last name written 宇津木? Or 卯月? Or something else?

Can you e-mail a scanned copy of the card to my handle at this site?

Copyright is 2008, says he graduates in 2009, born April 14, 1991 in Sarufutsu. I'll e-mail a scan to you, perhaps you'll recognize the uniform.

Thanks,

Rick

Now that I see the card, I think you've fallen victim to Topps My Trading Cards. Consider what's written on the back:
Already being called "The Uzi" by some for his 104 MPH fastball, .... At age fourteen, he was the youngest player invited to the WBC squad trials and - though he was out on the last day - he made a lasting impression with his 17 Ks in 7 innings of work during intrasquad matches.
I find it hard to believe a 14 year old throws faster than Marc Kroon, and there weren't trials for the WBC - at least not in Japan. Players were hand picked by a committee.

Furthermore, the grass and field in the background look very much like North American Little League/Senior League fields. I'm pretty sure that he's based in the U.S.

Much as I thought. Thank you. You have been most helpful. I will continue to visit to check on scores, etc.
