Free Agent Roundup
Reporting live from the floor of JavaOne Japan, here's an update of the still remaining free agents.

Today's Nikkan Sports reports that Tanishige is expected to head over States side on the 3rd of December and will report to the Seattle Mariners' training camp in Pioria on the 5th to show the six interested ball clubs what he's got. While he said that he'd like to be together with Sasaki again, when asked which club he'd like to sign with, Tanishige remained neutral, saying that he didn't have a preference.

Information on exactly who is interested in Taguchi is still rather vague. But he is planning on heading over to the States this weekend for training and possibly try outs. I know, but there aren't any more details than that.

Komiyama's quest for the Majors can be found here.

18 year journeyman Katoh (Orix) has decided to sign with the Buffaloes. The reported deal is 3 years for 2-oku (200,000,000) yen plus incentives.

Yamasaki and Maeda decisions can be found here.

Nippon Ham's Kataoka is still talking with Hanshin and the Ham.

Well, that wraps it up for now. It's off to study deployment of web services for me.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
