It is interesting to see which record the 2002 Yokohama Baystars will break. As a Yakult fan, I don't mind them breaking Central League record for sixteen consective losses that was set by 1970 Yakult Atoms.
They might as well change their nickname back to Whales after this lon---g season.

The shutout to one of several of Hanshin's emerging aces, Igawa, marked the 6th time the BayStars have been shut out this season. In fact, the 'Stars only had two runners reach base as Igawa didn't allow a singe walk (or hit batter). Koike doubled to lead off the bottom of the 3rd but was left there, and Suzuki-kun hit a one out base hit to center in the bottom of the 4th, but was thrown out trying to steal an out later to retire the side. So in all, Yokohama sent up 28 batters against Igawa, 27 of them became outs.
Well, other than going for Lotte's record for most consecutive losses, it's hard to imagine that things could get any worse than this.
