Tigers Defeat Giants 30-7

Tigers Defeat Giants 30-7
The first day of camp for all of the teams showed a significant shift in popularity. Namely, the usually popular Giants, who drew 2,000 fans to their Miyazaki camp site on February 1 last season, announced that a mere 700 fans showed up to kick off camp this year.

Over at Aki, Hoshino-kantoku drew 3,000 fans, 3 times more than Nomura-kantoku did his first day on the field three years ago.

Daiei pulled in 3,000 fans as well on this opening Friday, second to Oh-katoku's 5,000 debut back in 1995. There were 20 TV cameras there to catch rookie Terahara in action, three times more than usual.

So, what conclusion can be drawn from this appeal shift from the Giants to the Tigers and Hawks? That fans come out to see individual stars rather than their team?

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
