Aranami highlights 4-run inning as BayStars beat Eagles
The BayStars seemed grounded in their game on Wednesday night at The Kleenex Box.
In fact, thanks to three infield hits in a four-run fourth inning, they were using the ground game. Shota Aranami had three hits, including an infield single, and two RBIs to help Yokohama down the Rakuten Eagles 6-2 in the last interleague game.
Aranami sandwiched his RBI infield hit -- which bounced in front of Rakuten second baseman Ginji Akaminai and spun back toward the plate like a Tiger Woods shot to the green -- around infield singles by Takayuki Kajitani and Takehiro Ishikawa in the fourth.
Shugo Fujii (2-2) held Rakuten to a run on three hits with a walk, while fanning four for his first win since May 28.
MARINES 6, SWALLOWS 0
Katsuya Kakunaka had three hits and two RBIs, and Shunichi Nemoto homered and doubled to back Shunsuke Watanabe as Lotte cruised past Yakult at Jingu Stadium.
Watanabe (3-2) scattered three hits and a walk with three Ks over seven innings, and added a two-run single [his first RBIs a pro] to help his own cause and win for the first time since May 9.
The loss left the Swallows in last place in the final interleague standings.
