This series combined both nice work and poor work. What kind of idiot with one out in the eighth and a runner on first asks his catcher to bunt? Wada is such a case having Shimizu attempt to bunt Shunsuke to second. Shimizu was out with three failed attempts but then Crotta walked Arai but Tigers couldn't take advantage and the scores remained tied at 1-1. For the ninth Wada sent Katoh to the mound not Oh his star closer and Katoh gave up a two run home run to Miranda 3-1 Fighters final score. Managing the end game was never his strong point.
Tigers turned things around in the second game of the series and with a 1 run lead Gomez came to the plate with the bases loaded. He hit a very nice bases clearing double to put Tigers four - nil up. Fighters pulled one back to make the final score 4-1. Iwata was pitching really well and for once Umeno didn't disappoint behind the plate. Oh picked up his fourteenth save.
