Tigers sign new players

Tigers announced on Friday that they had signed the Korean pitcher Seung Hwan Oh from the Korean baseball team Samsung Lions. He has been given a two year contract and is an interesting signing. He is likely to get Kyuji Fujikawa's old number 22. The other signing announced was Mauro Gomez as Tigers foreign power hitter. This is more problematic as Tigers have an appalling record with foreign players. Doubts have been raised about Gomez's defense but of more concern is whether he will be able to hit. The talk indicates he may well be given No. 44 - Randy Bass' old number. Gomez is slated for first which leaves question marks over Takahiro Arai.
