An impasse has developed between Kubo and the Tigers management over salary. Kubo it seems want his salary doubled as a reward for all his hard work and effort last season. Tigers are prepared to offer an increase but not that much (by a long way). The upshot is that Kubo has not signed a contract with the club and even though he will be attending Spring training he will have to pay his own expenses. Kubo is not likely to ask for salary arbitration like Wakui did but both sides do need to sort out the problem soon.

Kubo has agreed a contract with Tigers which sees him get 92 million yen extra. This is much in line with what he had been asking.
