The hits just don't last like they used to. A day after belting out 19 hits, Bryan Bullington held the BayStars to just 5 hits through 7 innings. On the bright side, 3 of those hits came in the bottom of the 7th inning, culminating in a 3-run home run. Takeru Imamura and Kameron Micholio pitched the 8th and 9th perfectly for Hiroshima, holding the home team to just those tree runs.

For the Carp, though, this series has been a tremendous welcome party for new foreign first baseman Kila Ka'aihue. He hit a home run in each of the first two games, then doubled that total this evening with a 2-run home run in the 3rd inning followed by a 3-run blast in the 4th. He is the first foreign player to home run in each of his first three games in Japan. Those five runs alone were enough to carry the Carp to victory in the rubber match, but the added a run in the 1st and another in the 8th for a final score of 7-3.
