Data Donations
Over the past couple of weeks I've received a number of invaluable contributions from you fans. First of all, a number of you have sent in short biographical information on some players, Matlock-san contributing a great deal of background information on a number of them.

Last week, Ottolini-san, a Pro Yakyu fan from Italy, sent me a very interesting set of data - a list of Japanese players who have played abroad in the minors, the Hawaiian Winter League, and as invitees to Major League camps. I merged that data with my data and the results is the Study Abroad page.

I hope you find the data as interesting to you as it is to me. Of special interest is the number of players who went on to win titles after playing in the Hawaiian Winter League:
  • Ichiro's rise in 1994 after playing for the Hilo Stars in 1993
  • Kokubo winning the Home Run Crown in 1995 after playing for the Kauai Emeralds in 1994

And many other big names.

With your help, there are many ways that this site and its data may grow. I've been very pleasantly surprised by the offers from many of you fans. And I look forward to more additions that I'd never thought of before. You all know how to reach me with further ideas and/or data. Thank you all.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
