"This differs from an aparotomy (ventrotomy?) operation in that several small holes are opened in the abdomin, then an endoscope and other operational tools are inserted."As you can see, a medical dictionary is still required for most of us in English. Still, Matsui-san goes on to say that this is an extremely difficult procedure for even the top specialists. After this operation, Oh-kantoku won't be able to eat much, and things with calcium and iron will especially need aids (drugs?) to help digestion.
This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Hopefully, the problem is not as serious as we think it may be. I wish him good luck on the surgery, and that a speedy recovery follows it.
