Dragons Sign Tomori
The Chunichi Dragons have signed former BayStar pitcher Denny Tomori. Tomori was signed to a minor league contract last year with the Red Sox, but failed to make the cut and then spent the year with AAA Pawtucket and AA Portland. [Full Story - Japan Ball]

Tomori went 0-5 with 1 SV and a 5.03 ERA in 15 games with AAA Pawtucket. He went 2-3 with a CG and a 3.42 ERA in 19 games/6 starts with AA Portland. [Minor League Stats]

He had a 18-28 record with 30 SV's and a 3.96 ERA in 360 games with the Taiyo Whales (the forerunner to the BayStars), the Seibu Lions, and the present-day Yokohama BayStars. [Player Profile]

I wonder what the deal was with this guy being picked up by the Dragons. He has been done for some time, and this, while Ochiai is attempting to inject more youth into his pitching rotation. Tomori would just be taking up innings that could be used to help develop a youngster. Go figure.
