Mariners vs. A's in Japan?
From today's (September 21, 2011) Seattle Mariners website comes the announcement of a possibility to open the 2012 season in Japan, vs. the Oakland A's. Ichiro and Matsui, always a big draw. [Link]

The only catch is Matsui is a free agent next year, so no guarantee he would even be involved. He did have a solid second half, so a good chance the A's would try to sign him to a new contract.

The Japanese press (Nikkan Sports) has said a few times that A's management has been very positive on the prospects of retaining Matsui next season. It may have just been lip service, but I'd like to believe that they're sincere.
