MLB Live Video in Japan?

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
MLB Live Video in Japan?
I subscribed to MLB Live last year and paid 69.00 dollars for the service. Once I signed up and tried to live steam a game, "any game," it was blacked out. I heard a rumor that Japan has banned MLB Live video. Is there any truth to that? Why can't I get live MLB video?

Yes, if you read the fine print when you're going through the sign up process, MLB has chosen to black out Live streaming video to Japan. I believe it has something to do with the fact that NHK has broadcasting rights to a bunch of MLB games here. I almost signed up for live video, but had to settle for MLB radio instead. I was kind of upset, but I really only listened to my Mariners games at work, so I didn't really have time for the video feed.

I haven't done any research, but perhaps if you use a proxy from an IP address in the States, you'd be able to view the video streams without being blacked out? I'm not too much of a techie, but I've heard it works on other "Region specific" streaming websites.
