Hidalgo was recently released by the Orioles. From what I've heard, the Orioles are working with a Japanese team so Hidalgo can play in Japan.

The Orioles won't recieve any financial sum for Hidalgo because his contract wasn't purchased yet.

Hidalgo is one streaky player. Can you believe this guy was once making over $10M per year? He had a few good seasons, got the big bucks and has been absolutely putrid ever since.

It seems forever, since Hidalgo hit 40 home runs. Though Hidalgo who was streaky with Houston, having one good year, then a bad year, never shown a sense of certainity.

Hidalgo went onto be traded to the Mets, where he continued to struggle after struggling with the Astros. Hidalgo didn't last very long with the Mets, and was signed by the Rangers, where he struggled yet again.

I'm glad he really didn't make the Orioles, because I wouldn't have seen top prospect Nick Markakis then. Though, lately I haven't heard anything about Hidalgo and Japan, must have been talk by Hidalgo's agent. Though, he has also had family problems, which could be a factor.
