オリックス由田（よしだ）慎太郎外野手（２５）が横浜戦でハマの守護神クルーンから２ランを放った。途中出場し、６回に１５５キロのシュートをとらえ、オープン戦２号となる一撃を弾丸ライナーで右翼２階席まで運んだ。「気持ち良かった。打った瞬間入ると思いました。とにかく外野争いが激しいので結果を残さないと」。オープン戦は阪神戦の満塁弾を含む１２打数７安打、９打点、２本塁打の暴れっぷり。早大では阪神鳥谷、ヤクルト青木の同級生だった男は初の開幕１軍へ猛アピールを続ける。
