Ranked Scheduling?
Years ago my Japanese friend told me that teams that finish in A class start the next season at home. Has this rule changed or was my friend just mistaken? I ask because I noticed next season the Tigers are opening at Jingu.

No, your friend wasn't imagining it. That is how it used to be.
The problem that many clubs faced was that the stadiums they use are also used for concerts, soccer, and conventions. These other activities are scheduled sometimes 1 or 2 years in advance, making a reservation with just 4 months' notice increasingly difficult.
The solution was to give up on having opening day based on the previous year's standings. All 12 stadiums couldn't reserve the first week 2 years in advance any more, so that tradition has been lost.

Thanks for the clarification. It must have been phased out a while ago, as I seem to remember the Tigers opening at Osaka/Kyocera Dome even when they had finished 4th.
