Jeremy Powell
I am an ex-St. Louis Cardinal and met Jeremy Powell two years ago. I watched his progression in baseball and just learned that he is not with Osaka Kinetsu Buffalos. Can you tell me how he is doing and is he healthy? Thanks

Hmmm. That's a tough one. He hasn't pitched enough innings to be listed in the league leaders, so there are no stats in today's newspaper on him. Also, I haven't seen him pitch the past couple of games that Kintetsu has played, so I can't say anything first hand either.
On the bright side, the Kinetetsu Buffaloes are looking light they just might pull off a last place finnish to first this year. They're currently one game out of first and on the up swing.

I found some news on Powell in this week's Shukan Baseball. I'm afraid that it isn't very good, though.
But let's start with the good news. In his first start on June 24th against the defending champs, Daiei, Powell won his first game since coming to Japan. The right hander looked like he was going to have a great future.
However, he's only won one more since then. Sure, Kintetsu's relief blew a three run lead after 7 innings of fine work on August 17th, but as of August 22, Powell is 2 and 3 with an ERA of 5.23.
Rumor has it that Kintetsu is looking around for a left handed pitcher to replace Powell for next year.
I wish I had better news to report.
