The Tokyo - Osaka Rivalry Compared to New York - Boston

The Tokyo - Osaka Rivalry Compared to New York - Boston
I'm a college student in Boston and I've recently been exposed to the Red Sox - Yankees rivalry. Being emersed in it made me think that the Tokyo-Osaka rivalry (Giants and Hanshin) is pretty similar. For one, the Giants always win and can afford to buy the best players, much like the Yankees. But I'm also interested in other dimensions of this rivalry involving the fans and history of it. And also about how the development of Tokyo as a rival city to Osaka plays a role in the rivalry (i.e. Kanto vs. Kansai).

Please let me know what you think and also if possible point out any interesting books, articles, or Internet sites on the subject.

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
