One More Word on Tazawa
Yeah, I'm ready to put this one to bed too, but here's an article from the Asia Sentinel that gives a thorough recap of the situation, quotes Robert Whiting, and foreshadows what is sure to be a firestorm of controversy once Yuki Saito finishes at Waseda.

Errr, the article that they link to is clearly misinformed. It says that the NPB never noticed Tazawa's talent before the Red Sox swooped in, and the NPB teams didn't bother drafting him, both of which are incorrect.

Tazawa was in plenty of scouting pages and magazines for quite a while before the draft (I saw him in Shukan Baseball during the summer, where he was listed as a probable first-round pick in this year's NPB draft, with a full-page article along with a couple of other probable first-rounders). And the reason he wasn't drafted is because he asked not to be drafted.

Doesn't anyone do any research before writing these kinds of articles? Sigh.
