Mascot Internship Program?

Mascot Internship Program?
Hi,

I heard that the Hiroshima Carp have a team mascot internship program for American students.

Is this true?

Are the Carp the only team that do this?

Might anyone put me in touch with a current or former mascot intern?

Thank you!

Best,
Nina

Hi, Nina,

This article from Examiner.net entitled, "Fort Osage Graduate Proves He's a Real Character," may be a good place to find leads to such a program in North America or Japan.

In October of 2012 I came across " Job Offering: Hiroshima Toyo Carp Character Performer" on LinkedIn. While the offer has expired, it does have information on who one may contact. (In fact, I think that I met Gibler-san a number of years ago and was fascinated by his story of becoming the mascot and sticking around full time thereafter.)

I would suggest that you ask about such programs in a general, information gathering tone rather than just send off a resume. It's just more polite.

頑張って。
