August 30th and 31st - Depressing news

Tigers seem to have lost their mojo against Swallows. It does make one sad seeing them play so poorly against an inferior team with mediocre pitchers but there we are. The batting failed on both occasions with very little in the way of intelligent shot play and poor support for the young pitchers. It does a pitcher's confidence no good as in the second match when first Toritani and then Gomez commit errors to load the bases. And what is it with the Koshien scorer? - just because Toritani is team captain he can do no wrong? The shot hit at him was a straightforward take which he missed and let bounce off his chest blowing a double play in the process. It was not a hit to short. No wonder Iwasada struggled. Tigers batting was very lazy in both games and the results bear this out 4-1 and 4-2 to Swallows.
